Been looking for such for many years now. My father, John Samuel Swearingen was a semenan on the Thomas Stone when it was attacked and badly damaged off Algiers. He survived it and the war having subsequently served in the landings on Sicily and Anzio and Salerno, then he was at the D-Day invasion of Normandy. would love to hear from anyone who knew him or about him. Also would love to join any group dedicated to the USS Thomas Stone history and memory or reunions of the Stone servicemen or descendents

contact: John A Swearingen, 1015 N. Africa. He was a ship's cook, named Robert L. Talbott. I have a ship's roster he gave me if you'd like a copy. I've been collecting photos of the ship too. He later served in a Naval Beach Bn, not sure which one. He passed away in March 2008.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04385825776975330283noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1311686475682592725.post-89885074178251710032009-07-04T07:19:01.748-07:002009-07-04T07:19:01.748-07:00Sorry, forgot to leave email, billphoto1@aol.comSorry, forgot to leave email, billphoto1@aol.comBillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02126407205454939054noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1311686475682592725.post-31932436189797344762009-07-04T07:18:25.412-07:002009-07-04T07:18:25.412-07:00Hi and happy 4th of July. He was a radioman aboard the USS Thomas Stone and never really spoke of his time in the military and now his daughters want to know more. His name was Benjamin Franklin Evan from Cottonwood Alabama. Don't know if you knew of him or not but figured I would ask anyway. Thank you for your time. BillBillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02126407205454939054noreply@blogger.com
